Peak leaves in the Catskills and great food in Saugerties,Mt Tremper,Woodstock, and Cornwall

Every year I want to hit the peak Fall leaf season and eat at Peak-a-moose in Big Indian. No Big Indian this year but we did hit the peek. The drive was on old route 9W (218) through West Point and above the Hudson River. Glistening and orange/red. But there is always the other reason: food.   First, Painters at 266 Hudson in Cornwall..less ramshackle than their old location but still rambling . Shindig
in Woodstock was perfect for breakfast and Miss Lucy's in Saugerties would have been great especially for my veggie companion if they hadn't run out of the Veggie Tamales and if they hadn't forgotten the wine for so long that it came free . The squash Bisque ,beet salad flat bread  pizza ,Ribs all came late or cold with apologies and offers of free. Lucy's was a failed promise but I would go back. The Diamond Mill Hotel had an elegant restaurant i want to visit next time we stay at this gorgeous hotel  and the Catamount restaurant at the equally fine Emerson Hotel in Mt Tremper fed us twice brilliantly near the fireplace and Esopus Creek.

Philadelphia Comfort...Honey's,Amis, and Dining Car

Diners,Drive ins, and Dives showed these chicken croquettes and I was headed to Juvenile Law Center
40th anniversary so? An hour cab drive later i opened the door to The Dining Car and these classics:

Amis on 412 13st
Tribute to a local pol to be at the diner

Amis gave us baked pecorino with almonds and honey and scallops with squash  and apples.
...likable but not my favorites. The fresh made
Tartufo maker at Amis
Tartufo was a show stopper(to see being made)
.Honey's  Sit n Eat on 800 w 4th offers plates with eggs and potato pancakes in a 19th century former factory...their fresh made corn muffins compete with biscuits and the ham is smoky.
